How does TikTok's algorithm ensure that my advertiser's ad is shown to the right people?

The algorithm applies to organic content only and is NOT used for paid advertising. Ads are shown on TikTok based on the specific targeting criteria chosen by the advertiser and are delivered to our audience of real people on TikTok. 

Where do TikTok ads appear, and what do they look like?

They appear on the For You page. Please reach out to your account team for a creative example.

When I open TikTok I see an ad. Is this the ad opportunity that is available?

No, this is TikTok's branded takeover. This is a one-day sponsorship opportunity that has a $10K minimum spend. This opportunity is available to you so please reach out to your account team if you are interested in this, but because it's a mass-reach takeover it will not be shown specifically to our first-party audiences. Also, please note that set-up times will be longer as the programmatic team must go through TikTok for approval on these opportunities since they are on a reservation basis.

How much does a TikTok ad cost?

Leveraging our top-ranked consumer data, we can create people-based targeting campaigns on TikTok. The CPM for this REAL people-based approach is a $15 CPM. 

When will I be charged for the ad?

Advertisers are charged once the video starts.

What reporting is available?

Impressions, clicks, CTR, quartile video views: 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%, video average watch time. Please see a sample report here.

Is reporting for engagements (likes and shares) available?

Not at this time.

How long should TikTok ads be?

TikTok ads can be between 15-30 seconds long. We recommend 15 seconds for the most optimal video length.

How do I optimize my current TikTok campaigns?

What is not allowed to be advertised on TikTok?

In accordance with TikTok’s advertising policies, ads that have tobacco/smoking, drug-related products/services, political ads, police and military equipment, weapons, gambling, counterfeit goods, sexual products/services, and products or services that enable dishonest behavior will not be accepted.

How long does it take for a campaign to go live?

The turnaround time for a campaign to go live once we’ve received all assets is approximately 5-7 business days. Creative approval from TikTok takes at least 48 hrs. 

How should I submit a creative?

For us to begin processing your request to start a TikTok campaign, first send your completed video to your account manager along with your TikTok account name. Please also include any specifics on how your brand should appear.

How do I know the TikTok Ad Campaign will perform well?

What if I don’t know what to include in my TikTok videos or have never made one before?

TikTok ads work best when people are included. We recommend showcasing people using your product or service. Additionally, please see the creative best practices at the end of this document.

Are we able to apply pixel tracking to a TikTok campaign?

Yes, we are able to apply pixel tracking to TikTok campaigns as attribution is supported on the platform. 

Can we run static banners in addition to a video? If so, what are the specs?

No, we cannot run static banners on TikTok. All creatives must be in video format only, though we can run TikTok campaigns along other BRIDGE channels such as Display and other social media platforms.
